ACTIVITIES : Discord Chats, Online Gatherings, Check-ins
COMMENTS : Our chapter stayed connected through our Discord server this month. Lots of chats and fellowship with our more active members. The Chapter entered a fundraiser to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Extra Life is a fundraising program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®. The Extra Life community fundraises year-round to Change Kids’ Health to Change the Future. Donations go to member children’s hospitals to fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, and child life services. The chapter considered this as a way for crew members to share enjoyment of video games, coordinate game time together and show off gaming interests. The team initially began with LT Jen and LT Erica, with LCDR Ren joining, followed by LT Stephen and our newest teammate LT Samantha. LT Erica, LCDR Ren and LT Jen have been streaming game play on Twitch; the links to their Twitch accounts can be found on their Extra Life participant pages. Format, frequency and visual layouts are a work in progress, but this has been a fun learning and collaborative experience. As of 8/1/2022, the gaming team of the USS Marie Curie has received $110 in donations to Extra Life. Donations are made through one of the participants and go directly to Extra Life. Tabletop appreciation weekend is being held August 19th-21st and LT Samantha is mapping out arrangements to hold a virtual D&D tabletop game. Game Day 2022 is November 5th, and so far, LT Erica, LCDR Ren and The Operations Department have created a Interactive Health and Wellness program to Aimed to promote welfare check-ins on members of the chapter.
The Intent is to encourage interaction among the membership by partnership for small group activities.
Members who signed up as volunteers to participate were randomly paired together to check in and if so inclined, to come up with small group activities. Shout out to the following members for all of their efforts towards these activities:
